Poor~~Opps, Open!

Ok, so I think I only started mentioning it in my last piece but im actually going to be attending my first show entitled, The Newfanglers Art Festival.
It runs from Aug 2-3 and is located in Haliburton, Ontario (canada).

Now....Haliburton is far away from everything, I have 0 clue where it is, and all I have been hearing from friends is "cottage this cottage that" So now, this is why im nervous. I dont want to go expecting to make a fortune, but I kind of want to come out of it with something, be it contacts or a little pocket change, but in cottage country...hmmm. I also don't think my work will..well work... So im wondering. What should I do. I dont have many "wall worthy" pieces in my gallery, ones that appeal to the people of higher ages. Im hoping maybe some of my watchers are dads or granddads and could tell me if they would even second glance at a print from me. Gah...im getting nervous, but I really want to go there to have some fun, meet some contacts and not worry about people hating my work.

Thanks for any advice you can offer. And if you live around this area, send me a note and I'll get you more info on the show.

CJ~

I've only done a few shows, but it's always a mixed crowd. People will travel just as far as you will too see art as they will to sell it. So it won't all be back woods hill-billies, lol.

Just go in with an open mind and don't worry if people pass your stand. They'll be plenty of people there, and they're not all winners XD.

D: wish I could go.

I know what you mean about the nerves thing. Somthing that I always did was hide my art in the back cuz I was afraid of what people would think. Whatever you do dont hide it. Youll regret it, be bold and show it off, even if it feels foolsh. You never know who might be there watching. ^^

This year Im going to put mine up in the front. I hope I have enough curage though. ^^;

Being one of the people who have never been to a cottage, when I think cottage country, I think boring landscape paintings...XD

Even so, just go with your best stuff and give it all you've got :) YOU'LL BE FINEEE. Relax and have a good time!

*pushes you all the way to haliburton which really is far away from everything...it's even far from peterborough XD*

Oh...theres no hiding for me, im going all out. I want to be seen, i figure EXPOSURE!!! is the best way to go as of now. Im a bit more confident with my work, just not the crowd :P. But who knows, may get some D&D OG's, haha.
I'll tell you what happens, and have the courage, just do it!

Ive been up there once or twice, and thats EXACTLY what I was thinking. And I really dont want to sit around painting pictures like that. I would cry....Although once in a while a landscape is fun, but not a painted replica of a photo...because really...whats the point?
Thank you, haha.
